Punta Mujeres is famous for its natural pools. Further north you find Orzola (known for its variety of fish restaurants, an Aloe Vera farm and the majestic beach of Orzola). If you plan a day trip to La Graciosa island, your ferry will leave from the port of Orzola. Caleton Blanco, is just a 15-minute drive from Casa La Tunera, and is one of the most magnificent beaches on the island. It is a turquoise-colored lagoon changing hourly with the rhythm of the tides.

Cesar Manrique: visionary, architect, ecologist and
total artist

Ever heard of Cesar Manrique?

If you didn't, then you are about to discover someone unique and his incredible life work.Cesar Manrique was an artist from Lanzarote who pursued a succesful career as a painter in Madrid and then New York. But in 1966 he was called back by his school friend who was then heading the island's Council, to help him put Lanzarote on the world map. Turn this desert and volcanic island into a tourist destination. And Cesar did way more than that. Where everyone else saw just sand, lava, rocks and cactus, he saw beauty, ancestral architecture and unique moonlike landscapes. He designed a number of architectonic works that had the purpose of adapting and highlighting the landscape of Lanzarote to underline its beauty. The love that the artist felt for Lanzarote always defined each of his creations. In all of them, he sought an extremely respectful and enriching dialogue with the environment and nature, and at the same time, he kept alive the architectural values of the island’s tradition; highlighting the personality of Lanzarote in such a way that, without his work, it would be impossible to imagine today the island, which he took as a fundamental reference not only in his art, but also in his own existence.
